Korean cosmetics wholesale shipping: costs and inclusions

See how Cosmain quotes delivery separately from product prices, and how duties, customs clearance, cargo insurance, and shipment details affect the cost.

Updated:

Cosmain's default terms are EXW Korea, with delivery quoted separately from the products. Import duties, taxes, and customs-clearance charges are paid by the customer unless explicitly included in the quote. Cargo insurance is a separate arrangement that must be requested and paid for.

Is shipping included in the wholesale product price?

Delivery is quoted separately under Cosmain's default EXW Korea terms. That includes checking the agreed scope for any Korean delivery as well as international transport. A product total is not a delivered-cost total.

EXW means Ex Works. The International Chamber of Commerce's Incoterms rules describe it as a term with limited seller obligations. For a Cosmain order, use the actual quote to establish the collection point, delivery arrangements, and included charges. Additional transport coordination does not by itself change the agreed terms.

Who pays import duties, taxes, and clearance charges?

The customer pays these charges unless the quote explicitly includes them. This remains the case when Cosmain arranges delivery: arranging transport alone does not make the shipment inclusive of destination costs.

Ask your broker or destination service provider for the applicable duties, taxes, and clearance charges for the actual products. There is no universal destination-cost percentage for all Korean cosmetics orders.

What information belongs in a delivery request?

Start with the destination, requested products and quantities, preferred timing, and the delivery scope you want quoted. Shipment-specific details are needed to establish a transport price, including the packed quantities, weight, and dimensions.

At the inquiry stage, some of those details may still be unknown. Confirm what an estimate is based on and which shipment details remain to be settled. An early estimate is not confirmation of final packed weight, a fixed tariff, or a guaranteed arrival date.

If you want to use your own forwarder or request a split shipment, raise it during the order discussion. The handoff, feasibility, and costs need confirmation for that shipment.

Is cargo insurance included?

No. Cargo insurance is arranged separately when requested and paid for. Asking for insurance does not establish that cover has been purchased.

Confirm the policy or other evidence of cover for the actual shipment, including the insured value and applicable exclusions. There is no general promise that every loss will be covered or that a claim will be paid in full.

How can you compare two freight quotes?

Compare the scope as well as the headline price. A useful comparison identifies the same destination and cargo assumptions, and makes clear whether it includes:

  • Korean delivery or collection charges.
  • International transport and the delivery endpoint.
  • Destination handling, customs clearance, duties, and taxes.
  • Separately requested cargo insurance.

An omitted charge is not necessarily waived. Use the written quote to settle what is included before choosing the arrangement.

What if goods arrive damaged or items are missing?

Report damaged, missing, or incorrect items to Cosmain as soon as possible. There is no fixed Cosmain reporting deadline, and the resolution is reviewed case by case. Carrier and insurer deadlines are separate and may affect their own claims processes.

For the steps before shipment, read how ordering works. If documentation affects your import, discuss it early using the export-document guide.
