Expiry dates and shelf life for wholesale Korean cosmetics

Learn what expiry and batch information to discuss with Cosmain, how preorders differ from existing stock, and why remaining shelf life needs an actual-goods check.

Updated:

Cosmain does not guarantee a standard minimum remaining shelf life for every wholesale product. Expiry, manufacturing-date, and batch information need checking against the actual goods. If your order needs a particular remaining period, state that requirement before ordering so it can be discussed for the selected products.

Are preorder products different from existing stock?

Preorders source fresh goods from the brand. Existing stock depends on when it was purchased. These are different sourcing situations, but neither description establishes a particular production date or a promised number of months remaining.

A catalog listing does not identify a confirmed batch or reserve warehouse units. The useful information is the date or batch detail for the goods that would actually be supplied.

Which dates or markings should you ask about?

Expiry and manufacturing dates answer different questions. A manufacturing date tells you when the product was made; it does not by itself establish its expiry date. A batch code identifies a lot and may need interpretation from the brand.

Ask about the information available for your exact product and version. If a marking is unclear, request clarification rather than deriving a date from an unrelated product or an assumed standard lifespan.

Remaining shelf life also differs from the period for using a product after opening. The FDA's shelf-life guidance explains that storage and use affect how long cosmetics remain suitable. Follow the manufacturer's product-specific directions; this guide does not establish a common storage period for all Korean cosmetics.

Can I request a minimum remaining shelf life?

Yes, you can state the requirement for discussion. Include the products, quantities, destination, and the period you need remaining. Explain whether you are measuring that period at shipment, arrival, or another agreed point.

Submitting a requirement does not mean it has been accepted or that a suitable batch is available. Cosmain does not make a standard minimum-month guarantee; any information about the proposed goods needs an actual check.

How does transport time affect the remaining period?

The period left at shipment is longer than the period left after transport and clearance. For example, goods with 18 months remaining when shipped would have about 16 months left if arrival and clearance took two months. These figures are hypothetical and describe elapsed time, not a Cosmain supply or delivery promise.

If arrival timing matters to your requirement, discuss it alongside the shipment plan. Sourcing estimates and transit estimates do not establish a guaranteed delivery date. The shipping-cost guide explains the information needed for the transport discussion.

Does a fresh preorder guarantee a particular batch?

No. Sourcing fresh goods from a brand is not a guarantee of a lot date, expiry date, or fixed remaining period. Confirm what information is available for the actual goods before relying on a date in your retail or distribution plan.

To include a shelf-life requirement in a sourcing request, follow the wholesale ordering process and identify it alongside the exact products and quantities.
